Carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread, brown rice, pasta and oats raise blood sugar levels slowly, meaning that dieters feel full for longer. These foods are also low on the glycaemic index (GI). The team studied 129 people aged 18-40, all of whom were overweight. Each volunteer was given one of four different low-calorie, low-fat diets for 12 weeks. The researchers found that all the dieters lost similar amounts of weight, but those on the high-carbohydrate, low-GI diet lost nearly twice as much body fat as those on a high-carb, high-GI diet.

"whole foods". Don't worry about the GI index. Worry about whether you are eating whole, unrefined foods.

Wow! I thought CALORIES fatten you! More calories, more weight. The idea is a balanced diet: a little of all the food groups (5 I think), repeat: a little. Three full meals a day plus two or three snacks. Don´t go hungry, no sugar, no fat, no refined carbs, is the ground rule. Plus lots of exercise. Guaranteed that you will lose wight.
